FTP
FTP stands for File Transfer
Protocol. It's
about the easier and most convenient
way
of transferring data between
two computers
since the advent of the Internet.
A number
of easy to use clients are available,
whether
you chose to be using Windows
95, 98, NT,
2000 or Unix. For the Windows
users our there,
you can download a simple to
use FTP program
from our download area.
When using these or other clients,
you will
need three pieces of information
:-
Name of the FTP server: This
will be interact.uv.net.
Make sure you get this correct
or you will
be connect to the wrong computer
and it's
quite likely that you will be
refused a connection.
Your username: Enter this in
lowercase, This
is also sometimes called your
account name
or your pop3 username.
Your password: This will be the
same as your
dial-up account password and
your pop3 email
password.
When you finally establish a
connection to
our ftp server, you will be taken
to your
own private area. You will also
see a number
of directories, e.g. ftp, system,
www. The
directory that you will need
to transfer
your website into is the www
directory.
